I’m Renato Guida, a political science student who focuses on how people, institutions, and the world of work intersect. I split my time between the classroom and real-world experience, leading student organizations, building ventures, engaging in public service, and working directly with people in high-stakes, professional settings.
Understanding the interconnectedness of the world through geography, history, and culture has always captivated me. I pay attention to maps, borders, and cities not just as places, but as clues to how economies function, how people move, and how societies organize work and power. That curiosity shows up in everything I do: I’m as interested in how a local workplace is structured as I am in how international institutions shape opportunity across countries.

A lifelong curiosity about the world, shaped by travel, cultural exchange, and hands-on work with international communities, drives me to seek perspective beyond my own borders. Understanding how people live, lead, and solve problems globally is core to who I am.

I’m motivated by the belief that effective institutions and responsible policymaking can genuinely improve people’s lives. My work in public service has focused on engaging directly with the systems that shape communities—from serving on the SUNY Student Assembly Presidential Cabinet as Director of Student Voices, to sponsoring policy resolutions that impact campuses statewide, to conducting legislative research and constituent outreach as an intern in the New York State Assembly. Through these experiences, I’ve worked to translate student and community concerns into actionable policy and institutional change.

Leadership, to me, is about stepping into responsibility, staying steady under pressure, and elevating the people around you. I’m drawn to situations where something needs to be built, organized, or improved. Leadership, to me, is about stepping into responsibility, staying steady under pressure, and elevating the people around you. I’m drawn to situations where something needs to be built, organized, or improved. For example, while working as an event coordinator, I’ve had to manage large events with multiple moving parts—coordinating logistics, solving problems in real time, and ensuring the team around me can perform at their best. To me, leadership isn’t about holding a title; it’s about taking responsibility for outcomes and helping the people around you succeed.
